We hear all the time how we don’t post enough on the blog, so here is Pod-Word, an update on pod topics and upcoming shows.
We know, we know, it’s the lamest of excuses for a blog post but it makes perfect sense, no? Not convinced? Well, let’s dive in and see.
It would appear that the Boston bombers were part of a terrorist plot, at least according to CNN, who have proved that the one thing 24-hr news channels have is time on their hands. They interviewed all and sundry over the last fortnight, and as it stands it would appear that the bombers were plotting to attack Times Square in New York. There are also reports of a second car involved in the fatal shooting of an MIT police officer, which would itself prove evidence of a conspiracy and plot.
So Zeff, who was adamant in the last episode that the Chechen bombers were lone nuts rather than terrorists, it appears you will have to eat your words. Not unlike Eric ploughing through a plate of fajitas in his year-long quest to sample as many as possible (AV Pod 9 Jan)
Margaret Thatcher’s funeral cost the British taxpayer five million pounds sterling, but the family did pay for the flowers. Somehow the state forking over for some pomp and ceremony doesn’t seem quite Thatcherite in its use of public funding.
Looking back over prior episodes, Notre Dame footballer Manti T’eo (AV Pod 28 Jan) was this week drafted by the San Diego Chargers. No doubt he’s dreaming of a spectacular career with an imaginary appearance in the Superbowl…..And from the same episode, Lance Armstrong now seems likely to feel the full wrath of the US Government.
Finally, this week we’re posting the final part of our National Recording Registry opus. We’ve got (finally) to modern music, so listen for everything from U2 to REM to De La Soul. On the horizon is our Summer Movie Preview and we’re still waiting for suggestions for a movie commentary. So far we’ve got A Few Good Men, and When Harry Met Sally (courtesy of Zeff’s mother..!). A suggestion or two more and we’ll put a poll on the site and let you decide.
From the Basement Studio, take care.
